Pam

“Great things are happening at lacasa!” is the answer when you ask Pam McGregor what’s new. Pam is our Resident Service Manager and Facility Coordinator, and her office is at Roosevelt Center.

In July, an Open Gym program was started in the Roosevelt Center gym. Every day from 11-4, children (whether they were residents of Roosevelt Center or living in the neighborhood) were invited to come play basketball, under the supervision of a local coach who donated his time. Now that school is in session, Open Gym will be limited to Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 PM.

A group of Roosevelt residents took a trip to the Wellfield Botanic Gardens, with a bus ride and sack lunches arranged by Pam. Free back-to-school haircuts were given to 80 children by two licensed barbers who donated their time. Seven residents received cell phones after Pam helped them find the Safelink program which provides free phone service to eligible persons.  Pam has also arranged for nutrition classes to be offered at Roosevelt Center through the Purdue Extension program. Another example of working with other agencies is connecting three veterans with services they needed.

The podcast station has just been moved to the former conference room. It is available for use by the community, and there is a seminar on August 25 to teach people to use this facility. For information about this seminar, call Pam at 574-522-2874.

Even while we were talking, the phones never quit ringing. Pam is busily arranging the next great thing.
