In 2024, Lacasa partnered with NeighborWorks America to conduct a Community Experience Survey in Elkhart’s South Central neighborhood. The goal was simple but essential: listen to residents and better understand what matters most to the people who call this neighborhood home.
The survey is part of NeighborWorks America’s Community Impact Measurement study, conducted every three to five years to strengthen Community Building and Engagement efforts nationwide. By focusing on South Central Elkhart, Lacasa was able to gather meaningful feedback directly from residents about their experiences, priorities, and hopes for their neighborhood.
Residents shared insights on community strengths, available resources, and areas where additional support or investment could make a difference. This feedback helps identify opportunities to improve quality of life, strengthen connections among neighbors, and build a more resilient community.
The data collected through the survey plays an important role in shaping Lacasa’s work. It informs how programs are designed and refined to reflect the real needs of residents, including renters and long-term community members. Most importantly, it reinforces Lacasa’s commitment to community-driven solutions where residents’ voices guide decision-making.
By listening first, Lacasa continues to build partnerships, advocate for neighborhood priorities, and support stronger, more connected communities across Elkhart.
