Our goal is to meet people where they are and continue building their confidence. When individuals understand how money can grow over time, it changes the way they think about their future.”
Financial empowerment does not stop at budgeting or paying down debt. True financial stability includes understanding how to build wealth over time.
Last night, Lacasa hosted its second Investing 101 class, continuing to expand the scope of financial education available to our community. The session was led by community supporter Karl Birky, alongside Ashley Bowen, Lacasa’s Vice President of Financial Empowerment.
Together, they walked participants through the fundamentals of investing, including the power of compound interest and an overview of different types of investment accounts. The discussion also included an introduction to cryptocurrency, helping attendees better understand both traditional and emerging financial tools.
For many participants, this class represented the next step in their financial journey. After learning how to budget, reduce debt, and improve credit, Investing 101 introduced the concept of growing assets and planning for long-term financial security.
This work continues to grow. In the past year alone, Lacasa provided financial education to 531 individuals across multiple counties, equipping them with tools to build stability and long-term success.
We are deeply grateful to Karl for generously sharing his time and expertise. Volunteers and community supporters like him help us broaden access to education that can have generational impact.
We are also thankful for the ongoing support of our financial empowerment sponsors, including Lake City Bank, Interra Credit Union, and KeyBank, whose investment allows us to offer these classes free of charge. Their partnership ensures that cost is never a barrier to learning.
Most importantly, we celebrate the participants who chose to invest their time and energy into learning. Asking thoughtful questions. Engaging in new concepts. Taking ownership of their financial futures.
At Lacasa, we believe financial education is not just about managing what you have today. It is about creating opportunity for tomorrow.
