Lacasa will host a groundbreaking ceremony on May 26 at 1:30 PM for a new 6-unit affordable housing development located at 716 E. Lincoln Avenue in Goshen.

This project represents another step in Lacasa’s ongoing work to expand access to stable, affordable housing in the community.

The new building will include two 3-bedroom units and four 2-bedroom units, designed to serve individuals and families earning between 40% and 60% of the Area Median Income. While all of the units help meet a growing need, the addition of 3-bedroom units is especially important. Larger affordable units are often harder to find, and this project helps create more options for families who need additional space.

This development is made possible through funding from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA), along with the continued support of community partners and donors.

Lacasa currently manages more than 400 affordable housing units throughout Goshen and Elkhart. As the need for affordable housing continues to grow, projects like this play an important role in creating additional options for individuals and families who may otherwise struggle to find housing that fits their budget.

While this is a smaller development in size, its impact is meaningful. Housing that is both stable and affordable can help reduce financial strain, support family stability, and create space for individuals to focus on work, education, and overall well-being.

This groundbreaking will take place during NeighborWorks Week, a national week of recognition and action that highlights the impact of community-driven housing efforts across the country. The 2026 theme, “Creating Homes, Building America,” reflects the role organizations like Lacasa play in expanding housing access, strengthening communities, and contributing to long-term economic stability.

In addition to the East Lincoln Avenue project, construction is already underway on a fourth building at Lacasa’s Lakeview Drive development. This phase will include eight supportive housing units for residents age 55 and older, further expanding housing options for individuals with different needs and life circumstances.

The May 26 groundbreaking will include brief remarks and an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the project and Lacasa’s broader housing efforts.

Community members, partners, and supporters are invited to attend and be part of this next step.
