A few months ago, residents from the Chamberlain neighborhood in Goshen joined City of Goshen staff and Lacasa’s Daniela at the NeighborWorks Community Leadership Institute in Minneapolis. Together, they explored what it means to build stronger neighborhoods by empowering residents to lead the way.
When they returned home, the group put those ideas into action. They developed plans for a neighborhood meal—simple but meaningful ways to bring neighbors together, spark new connections, and cultivate pride in the place they call home.
In June, those plans became reality. The neighborhood meal drew a wonderful turnout as neighbors shared stories, met new friends, and enjoyed an amazing meal provided by La China, a neighborhood favorite.
Strong communities begin with strong relationships. When neighbors know one another and take the initiative to create opportunities for connection, they build lasting change from within.
That’s the heart of Lacasa’s Community Leadership Initiative. Our role isn’t to tell neighborhoods what they need—it’s to open pathways for ideas to grow, leaders to thrive, and communities to shape their own future.
