“Hunger Ends Here” Provides Food After Storms

  • Impact Story

After the Storm, Neighbors Stepped In to Help

When the storms moved through our area last week, many Lacasa residents spent 24 to 48 hours without electricity. After the lights came back on, another challenge remained: refrigerators and freezers full of food that had to be thrown away.

For many families, replacing that food all at once was an unexpected expense.

When Lacasa shared the need, the Community Foundation of Elkhart County connected us with Hunger Ends Here. Their team quickly organized a donation of 117 boxes of non-perishable food and 27 boxes of fresh food, including meat and milk.

On delivery day, the boxes filled vehicles as Lacasa staff members traveled from property to property, making sure residents received what they needed.

We are thankful for the Community Foundation of Elkhart County for making the connection and to Hunger Ends Here for stepping in so quickly.

The storms may have passed, but the kindness shown afterward will stay with us much longer.
