For many families, buying a home represents years of planning, saving, and hoping.
For Maria and her daughter, it also inspired one very special thank-you.
After purchasing their Goshen home in June, Maria’s daughter created handmade “Dream Builders” awards for our Lacasa team and Teresa Cummings from the City of Goshen. Along with a drawing of their new home, it was her way of thanking the people who helped make homeownership possible.
Maria’s path to homeownership was made possible through two programs designed to help first-time buyers overcome one of the biggest barriers to purchasing a home: the down payment.
Through Lacasa’s Dream$avers Matched Savings program and the City of Goshen’s Homeownership Assistance Program, Maria received a substantial downpayment toward the purchase of her home.
While financial assistance helped open the door, the journey also included planning, education, and guidance. Homeownership is one of the biggest financial decisions a family can make, and having the right support along the way can make all the difference.
Stories like Maria’s demonstrate what’s possible when community partnerships work together to remove barriers and create opportunities. They also remind us that the impact of homeownership extends beyond a house. It creates stability, builds equity, and gives families a place to build memories for years to come.
As for Maria’s daughter, she found the perfect way to express what the experience meant to her.
She called them Dream Builders.
And we couldn’t think of a better description.
Lacasa offers homebuyer education, financial coaching, matched savings opportunities through the Dream$avers Matched Savings program, and connections to assistance programs that may help make purchasing a home more affordable.
